Gertrude Daly is an experienced writer, blogger, and editor. She writes in a variety of genres and many forms.
When she isn’t writing operations and maintenance manuals for work, Gertrude works on many creative projects. She has had a number of short stories have been published in anthologies. She is also constantly working on a new novel, which she ends of hating and tossing to the side.
Gertrude is probably best known for her blog, Gert’s Royals, about European Monarchies. You can find her on X (Twitter) @GertsRoyals or at http://gertsroyals.blogspot.com/.
Many years ago, Gertrude graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in English, and an area of specialization in medieval, renaissance and early modern literature. She found this particularly helpful in her current job as Lead Technical Writer for a company in the material handling industry.
Gertrude is also the co-author of two books on Plain English Medical Writing: Plain English for Doctor and Other Medical Scientists (Oxford University Press, 2017) and Diagnosing and Treating Medicus Incomprehensibilis (Oxford University Press, 2018).
Gertrude serves as a volunteer for two writing organizations:
NaNo2.org is a small group of long-time NaNoWriMo champions and enthusiasts, including NaNoWriMo founder Chris Baty. We came together after the official nonprofit closed in 2025 to support people taking part in the challenge.
Writing Quests is an association of writers and writers communities. Writing Quests hold an annual writing challenge called “Novel Quest” each November.
