Grandma’s Red Christmas Sweater/ Chicken Soup for the Soul’s Tale of Christmas

“Grandma’s Red Christmas Sweater” is a short story about me and my grandma. One Christmas, when I was little, Grandma received a beautifully beaded red sweater as a gift. Being the practical woman she is, she decided to make it her official Christmas sweater, wearing it every year for the holiday. Over time, the sweater became a beloved family tradition.

As Grandma has grown older and older, I’ve often wondered how our family traditions would continue after she’s gone. I decided I wanted to continue her tradition of the red Christmas Sweater, but realized I could find a way to join in even while she is alive.

The short story was published in Chicken Soup for the Soul’s Tales of Christmas: 101 Stories of Holiday Joy, Love and Gratitude.
